Extra Money!!

November 16th, 2019 at 02:44 pm

Did you know you can sign up with the post office to see the mail that is arriving in your mailbox that day? The email we received shows we are receiving our utility rebate today. It's over $60. I'm a little annoyed because it is supposed to be direct deposited!

We earned a $13 reward on our US Bank credit card. I always pick a credit for this account. I just show the transaction in YNAB as a deposit to our Big Goal.

I'm working on earning more Swagbucks so I can redeem an Amazon gift card. I will use it to pay for most the DnD book we are giving our daughter for Christmas. After I buy that I will attempt to get another 2200 Swagbucks points for a Google Play gift card.

I have done a significant portion of our Christmas shopping at this point. I'm nearly done with my parents and may actually take the gift with us for Thanksgiving, so that I don't have to mail it. It depends on how much room I have in my suitcase, and the weight of my suitcase.

My husband parks at those offsite lots near the airport when he travels for work, he earned enough free parking days for our next trip to cover three days! This saved us about $40.

I sold an item I made on eBay. It was extra fabric, so I sold it cheap and made nearly $4.

Also my husband's expenses for a recent trip were under the per diem amount so we have $105 which we added to our Big Goal.

I'm hoping to redeem Fetch Rewards again soon, too. I've noticed Planter's nuts are quite the help in the points adding up. Do you use Fetch? It's much easier than Ibotta. My referral code is FQ8U1, which you enter when you sign up for the first time. You can find the app in the App Store or Google Play store for free. Once you scan your first receipt, you will receive 2000 points.

Is Fetch helpful to someone who does the majority of grocery shopping at Aldi?

My wife does the mail thing. I don't particularly care since it's 99% junk mail anyway and I don't have any burning desire to know what is coming a couple hours early even if it's something important.

Good job on the free parking and on the ebay sale.

I received a Ferrara Candy Settlement check for $16.20. And just redeemed $68.12 in cash back rewards from my credit card. I also have enough to redeem a CVS gift card from Fetch, just haven't processed it yet. Love extra $$!!

I love when I get rewards on my card. After applying them to the account, I make a payment or deposit towards another goal in the same amount of the rewards. It is money I would have spent to pay off the bill under normal circumstances, so it's like free money.

Capital One's Quicksilver credit card was offering $150 if/when you spent $500 in 3 months. I knew I had an eye exam / new glasses on the immediate horizon. I paid for my glasses and a small trip to the hardware store to hit the $500 faster than I thought. I already was able to use the "reward" money (plus they also offer 1.5% back on any/all purchases) Therefore, my $525-ish bill got reduced to $370-ish. I will take it.

CB, at a minimum you could get 25 points for each receipt scanned, including gas, pharmacies, and convenience stores. I'm not sure if it's less lucrative at Aldi, since I don't shop there. It's free to try!

@Wink, you have lots of extra money coming in too!

@DS, I agree that most of our mail is junk. Some days we get nothing since we have taken our name of most direct marketing mail lists for catalogs and things. I do like to see the mail scanned when I see a check or greeting card. Just all the more reason to look forward to the mail. Lol

@crazyliblady, you handle your rewards just like we do!

@kimberlee, that was great move to get a discount on your glasses. I may do something similar for my prescription that I hope to get filled in early January. Now would be the time to apply.

Yes, I have heard about the mail notification, but I'm so far behind on emails that I'm scared to sign up & get even further behind.

No, I hadn't heard about the mail notification. That's pretty cool.

We use Fetch and it is easier than Ibotta, but I use them both. I also have started using Checkout 51. I don't get much, but figure even if takes me awhile, it also is free money.

@terry77, wise idea to clean up and handle your email inbox first before adding more to the pile!!

@rob, I still use Ibotta too. It's just much slower, and I onced used Checkout 51. Very similar to Ibotta, if I remember.

I had no clue, you could view your mail prior to delivery. I just signed up, thanks. You’ve scored well on the extra cash with points.

I use Fetch, ReceiptPal, ReceiptHog and iBotta. ReceiptHog is my favorite of them. I use iBotta whenever I shop at Walmart or on Amazon. Fetch is okay, but my receipts rarely get more than 25 points - my husbands do sometimes. He's been buying corn nuts lately ..

Great job on the extra money. I realised that I need to start getting into Swagbucks again for Christmas next year.
I just watched a YouTube video talking about Fetch (Pennies into Pearls' $50 Thanksgiving Grocery Haul)

Thank you for mentioning the Planters deal on Fetch. I bought some yesterday and haven't scanned my receipt yet.

I only need to purchase 2 more Christmas gifts, then I'm done shopping. I mainly used Swagbucks and other point earning sites (Mypoints, InstaGC, Checkout51, Savingstar, Ibotta) to pay for our gifts. I shop for gifts year round.
