Netflix Increasing & Be Kind

December 5th, 2017 at 09:27 pm

I had an email this morning that our Netflix subscription amount is changing from $11.99 per month to $13.99 a month. Sounds like their will be more programs and the ability to download for later watching as benefits. Never a fan of price increases, but we will stick with Netflix for now.

Purchased my daughter some vitamins on Amazon today. I used the Discover cash back for a credit of $2.38. Final cost was $12.36. I think I will send that cash back amount to our Big Goal. I should add in the coupon savings from Sunday, too.

I had to take a mental health break today. I had some stress and anxiety pop up on me this morning. I'm feeling better already. To help, I called my mom, went for a two mile walk, ate a good lunch, and then took an epson salt bath. Later I added some relaxing oils to my diffuser while I listed to some very nice relaxing YouTube music. I also got up and got busy in the kitchen making some muffins and hummus (not to eat together!).

I share because this time of year can be stressful for various reasons. It is okay to take a time out and take care of ourselves. And it doesn't have to cost anything! And be kind to those you meet as you don't know what their current struggles may be.

I'm sorry you were having a rough morning, and glad you're feeling better. Sometimes it just sneaks up on you and you realize you may be pushing yourself too much...happens to me too! Being kind is always good advice!

I think the holidays are always stressful--perhaps more so because we expect them to be lovely. Sounds like a good dose of self care.

I am feeling better. Just to shed a little more light, the anxiety for me comes from my dealings with my own daughter (at college) who deals with her own stresses and anxieties. This momma bear just wants her to be happy and my own anxiety took me for a spin this morning about it. I'm fine, my daughter is dealing. She just needs to get through finals next week!

Luckily this year Christmas is the least of my worries, but I know that it can be stressful for many. If that is any of you, you have my sympathies. We all just want to feel good, don't we?!

We should always remember to be kind! Such a simple thing to do, and it makes such a difference.

Good job with the self-care! Most people try to power through it (as they do with colds/sickness) and that just exacerbates problems.

Hope you are more relaxed. You are right; it can be a stressful time of the year. Our Netflix is going up to $10.99. Even with the increase, I think we derive as much pleasure from it. We haven't been to a movie theatre in a couple of years...we just wait until it comes on Netflix.

Thank you for the reminder. I'm trying to tame my own anxiety monster while helping kids minimize the stress of upcoming finals (one in college, one in high school). These are the two that are like me, so I understand where they are coming from. To deal with my own I spend $4 on a coffee outing with a friend to deal with my lack of securing a decent job, $6 for a Zumba session (pay as you go), and let my mom treat me to a fun movie. I've also tried to help the kids prioritize projects based on due dates, but for the college girl all the things are due within two days. But we are not sleeping well, feeling run down, emotional, dealing with head aches and muscle tension. I hope your college gal got a grip on her stuff. I can't imagine having to help from a distance. (hugs)

In 2017, I was really feeling the stress of dealing with for the most part being the one that brings in the dough, even though I am on disablitiy, so I am suing most of my time that is am up to it, working on my on-line store and seeing hubby playing games on his computer! Frustrating to say the least. We both handle stress in completely different ways. I just work harder and harder, while he shuts down and can't do a thing. But I finally realized that I needed to take time for me to relax and not feel like I have a huge list of things to do. So this year I have been resting and spending me time. He managed to earn some money and we got two of the checks for it yesterday. So he feels better. I am not nearly as stressed, and am actively working on my decreasing expenses and increasing income - by all legal means. I am finding lots of possiblities here.
