Sign In Yard Tomorrow

April 10th, 2015 at 09:10 pm

I have signed the listing agreement with our realtor today. My husband will have to electronically sign after work. His work email has such high security levels that he can't sign from work.

There will be a sign in the yard tomorrow, but because of the late signing by my husband today, the listing will not be live until Monday. There is a chance a showing or two could happen as a house across the street is having an open house on Sunday. I'll be leaving those showings for my mom to prepare while I'm out of town. Lucky for me, I know she will handle it fine and is very willing to help.

We will have one open house a week from Sunday. My realtor says she has a pretty good track record for finding buyers during open houses. We'll see. I'm not usually a fan, but I'll give her a 1.5 hours to try it out. Smile

Boy it feels real when you sign! Send your best wishes, prayers and good vibes for the right buyer at the right price. Smile

Good luck. Don't write off open houses. They may not lead to direct sales but can help generate buzz. The last house we sold, someone was going to a party in our neighborhood and saw our open house so they ran in to take a look, then told friends who were house hunting and they ended up buying our house.

scfr, I tend to think of open houses as more of a way for realtors to find buyers they can help find another home. We do have a very seasoned agent, so I think she is probably good at 'selling' our home to those who come in.

Good luck; hoping this stressful period of having strangers traipsing through is quick with the offer you seek settled without a lot of bumps.

In our area the 1st and very, very important early morning Open House is called 'Caravan' just for realtors. The more agents that walk through and pick up the handout prepared for potential clients the more likely someone has a vetted client looking for the location, sf, bedrms and features you have on offer.

I'm not a fan of Open House but would you consider matching promotions if the other house brings buyers to your street? What is your realtor's impression of the other house? What does she see as features to emphasis at your home, lacking there?
