I Have a Cold

November 8th, 2014 at 04:25 pm

My girls had colds earlier this week. I did my best to keep hands washed and avoided picking up any used tissues. Unfortunately, I got the cold. I did sleep in the morning, and have had two cups of warm tea. I don't feel to run down, but just annoyed with the symptoms.

We have to make a run to the music store today to return the flute we borrowed. There is an issue they may need to fix or see if there is another one before we go ahead on the purchase.

I may make one stop at Target for some sale items. I can't remember what they are, so maybe it doesn't even matter!

The rest of they day will consist of fluids and rest, which sounds much better than going on into the cold, windy weather we are having!

Do you have a go to treatment for colds? I tend to go for a decongestant, but this cold isn't like that, more of the scratchy throat variety.

I am just posting a recipe for pasta fagioli. That and rest is what I do for colds. (My body doesn't jive with cold meds; or most meds for that matter). Fluids and rest is the most of it. Hope you feel better soon!

I normally take Echinecea(immune supplements) and drink plain boiled water with a piece of ginger and lemon in it. Ginger clears you out big time Smile! Feel better soon

Elderberry extract, which you get at a health food store

Sorry you've caught cold. It's mostly about making yourself as comfortable as possible. It helps to go after the symptoms and stay hydrated. Try as as much home made chicken soup, hot green tea improved with choice of honey, ginger or a tot of whisky, which encourages sleep, as you can tolerate. If your throat is raspy/sore, gargling with mouthwash, if nose is dripping try one of the nasal inhalers pr saline drops & a dab of Vicks under nostrils. It's one of the few times we use Purell to attempt to protect others. I believe it helps to keep your hands away from your face. We overdose on Vitamin C and oranges, indulge ourselves with a naps, It's all about feeling like we're doing something!
