Trash Can Tossed to the Wind

January 14th, 2014 at 07:08 pm

It is windy here today. So windy that as soon as the garbage man put my empty can back on the curb it flew down the street. He didn't bother to run after it. How can he, when every trash can he picks up today will do the same thing?! Since I saw it happen, I quickly bundled up and walked three houses down to pick it up out of the street.

I sure don't want to be buying a new trash can every time it is windy! That is like throwing money to the wind. I wrote a post about throwing away money on

Our Money Blog today, if you want to have a look.

I expect my only outflow of cash today will be for a flute lesson. That is definitely worth paying for!!

Here if you don't have your trash can tied securely (or chained) to a fence or something else sturdy, it won't have a long life. I also have my trashcan lid secured with a bungee cord - although even that isn't always enough when the garbage men don't replace the cord! (and even when they do, I've still come home to find my garbage lid in my yard with the bungee cord neatly over the top of my can)
