Chase Southwest Airline credit card offer is back. You can earn 50,000 points for spending $2,000 in 3 months. This is equal to $800 in airline tickets or $500 in gift cards. My husband did this offer and we are working on spending the gift cards. It's tempting to apply in my name, but I'm going to personally hold off for right now. See the details on the link, and remember there is an annual fee of $99. You might be able to get it back if you cancel early.

The market was at an all time high on Wednesday. I made sure to record our retirement balances. It nice to see we are nearing a milestone....$250K. We are still about $8K off as of that day. And unfortunately the market is going back down. It really is interesting to see that just over 10 years ago we only had $25,000 invested for retirement. And even four years ago the market was so low we only had $69K...it had been much higher prior to that drop. I'm glad we just keep investing regardless of the markets ups and downs. It does pay off!!

Do you know of any new credit card reward offers? Did you also check your investment accounts when the market was at it's peak the other day?

I'm doing the Barclays travel [edit, not Visa] MasterCard: Spend $1000 get $400 worth of spending on any airline, hotel or rental car. I'm going to open ones for NT and AS soon, and see if we can end up with $1200 off our spring vacation.

I also did a USBank offer I got in the mail for spend $500 get $200. But it looks like the only online offering from them is spend $2500 get $200, which isn't really worth it.

Oh, and I didn't check our accounts. To try and remove myself from the emotional highs and lows of the market, I check them once a month, and that happens to be on the 16th or 17th, so probably right before the big spike.

    Nice balances Bob & starfishy!

@ceejay, I don't think the Barclay offer is for me. DH travels, but it's paid by the government, so its not beneficial there. The rest of us travel so rarely that I'd rather have cash. It sounds like it will work for you.

I think I got a US Bank offer for $100 bonus for spending $500. That might be the one I go for next, since it would be pretty easy to complete.

i was just thinking of getting a CC i can use for airline miles. i don't want to use a credit card ever really, but i have some reoccurring, mostly yearly charges, i don't want to forget to pay. i suppose i can use it for minor thing, but no more big purchases for me on credit cards. i don't trust myself...at the moment.
