Sold One Item

September 10th, 2012 at 01:59 pm

I already sold an item on ebay. Remember how I mentioned Box Tops for Education several months back? That's what I sold. A simple buy it now transaction. I haven't added up my proceeds, but likely close to $10. Not bad for a little bit of paper and limited work.

My biggest advice for selling on ebay...consider everything as a possible ebay item. Take the time to look up the completed listings to see if anyone has sold the item recently and for how much. It only takes a moment to check!

What is the most unusal or profitable item you have sold on ebay in the past?

DW sold a belt of mine that ended up in South Korea. I don't remember for sure how much it sold for, but I think it was $27. I was surprised by how much it sold for, anyway. I'm also not sure how much I paid for it originally, but I can't imagine I spent much more than $27, and I would guess that I spent much less than that.

How do you sell the boxtops? I thought those were illegal to sell like coupons. How do you get around that?

@LuckyRobin, If you look Ebay you will see many people selling box tops. I have not found anything that says they cannot be sold. They are an incentive or reward program, rather than money off a product like a coupon. If this was illegal, I believe Ebay would definitely have stopped it by now, like they have with other products.

Good to know. How many do you sell at a time? How much do people pay for them?

@LuckyRobin, I usually sell 100 at a time. Amazingly, we actually accumulate that many about every 6-9 months. My last set sold for $13. Free shipping. I've sold them for as low as $6 before. It can very.
