The Numbers of 2009

December 31st, 2009 at 03:15 pm

Our financial picture of 2009 wraps up like this:

Retirement contributions: $14,147.00
Retirement accounts increased: $33,219.29
Retirement accounts exceeded $100K

Total debt decreased: $17,011.21
Nearly $10K paid on HEL!!

Our net worth increased by approximately $50,230.50, which does not include any increase or decrease in our home's value.

We paid cash for a trip to Disney World and our daughter's braces. Yipee!!

    Great job !

Am really impressed by the retirement numbers - accounts increased by 33000 but you only contributed 14000. So the rest of the increase was investment growth ? That is fabulous ! I'm looking forward to the time when my retirement account is sizeable enough to grow by that amount just off the back of the market ! And breaking the 100,000 barrier IS a milestone !!

    Well done ! :-)

Yep, the rest is investment growth. Keep in mind the stock market had fallen quite at the end of last year. I'm thankful much of the previous value has returned.
