Extra Funds

May 3rd, 2009 at 03:08 pm

I'm creating a ticker to track the extra funds in my second checking account. This is where I will hold the money we have set aside for Disney.

In full disclosure, this account may decrease at times. It will decrease as I buy things we need prior to our Disney World vacation, such as clothing. Before we leave, I expect there will be a good chunk of change in the account to pay for our theme park tickets, rental car, food and hotel balance.

Beginning balance is: $440.13

I hope to add some more later this week, since we are having a garage sale on Thursday and Friday!

I have a friend who took a lot of nieces and nephews to Disney once - instead of buying them souvenier t-shirts at the park, she bought a bunch from the local thrift store before she went - washed, ironed & packed them and then sprung them on the kids once they were on site.

We're going to Disneyland this summer as well. I don't know how the tickets work for your DH being AGR, but for us, mine will be free, and then my DW's is half price, and the promotion I read thru Disney is that it also applies to any kids of active military. I don't know if they'll differentiate between AGR and Active Component, but it's worth a shot. Good Luck and have fun!

Swanson, we are going to Disney World in FL and yes they have great deals for military there, too. We will be getting 40% off our resort room, and DH's ticket is free for 5 days of park admission, park hopping and water parks. For the rest of us, $99 each for the 5 days, with the option to add park hopping and water parks for $25 for each of us for each option. We also got a great deal on a rental car through the armed forces vacation club.

We've been before and generally don't buy a lot of souvenirs. The kids have plenty of allowance money, if they want to buy 'stuff'.

Creditcard free, we were at Disney World last year in May and what we found worked best for us was getting the kids their own pre-paid Disney gift cards. We aren't really big on souvenirs either, but this is what the kids got: DD11 started a snowglobe collection and got small ones for her favorite rides Expedition Everest, Pirates of the Carribean, and then a Mickey one. DD10 got a cute Tinkerbell watch that she wears all the time and some earrings, the little kids got T-shirts and I think one stuffed Mickey each.
