Car repairs....ughh!
My DH is off work this week. We needed an oil change and thought the brakes were at the point of being replaced. Yep, they needed replacing including the rotars. Turns out we needed new ball joints, too.
Car repair bill totaled $750. That is after a free alignment and a 10% off coupon.
So this month there will be no extra payment to the home equity loan. I'm pretty disappointed in that, but extremely grateful that I have the money to pay cash for this repair.
I have about $500 in a checking account and the remainder will need to be pulled from the emergency fund OR some cash I have been saving for Christmas gifts. I think I need to dip into the gift fund rather than the emergentcy fund. We have four more paychecks before Christmas, so I think I can find money to cover holiday expenses.
I hope my ebay items sell big this week. I need to go found some more now! Wish me luck.
Ughh!

Took the car into the local shop I deal with and it seems that the seal around the casing that houses the brake lights, tail lights and turn signals was shot and had taken in quite a goodly amount of water which had shorted out the lights.
The mechanic seemed amused as he had pretty much only seen this happen with headlights.
It is going to set me back about 500 clams to fix this problem. Ugghhh indeed!

M E 2...sorry to hear about your repairs. I do hope you have some cash to ease the burden.
Boo...better to pay for brake pad only, then rotors AND pads. Pad are much cheaper than the rotors, too. I'm not sure why it took us so long to realize that we even need brakes!
If you know someone handy with cars, buy the pads at an auto store for them to install for you. We had BIL do this for us a couple times when money was really tight. Good luck Boo.
