Back on Budget

February 27th, 2013 at 08:05 pm

I was doing a survey on Swagbucks for my local gas utility about their website. It had me log in to my account, to test different features. While I was there I clicked on 'Budget Billing' and signed up.

I've been on budget billing before, but when we began service for our new home it was not available. After nearly nine months of billing, we are eligible. Our payment will be $43 per month. I have it set up to review every three months. Right now the highest our bill has been is $101, and as low as $7! We only use gas for our furnace and fireplace, so when it warms up we don't use much gas.

Budget billing is a great way to keep utilities even and easier to plan. There are adjustments, but I've always been notified at least one month in advance. Do you use budget billing for any of your utilities?

See my earlier post today about the truck loan!

Hey, I did that survey but I got ComEd instead of the Gas Company.

I just signed up for budget billing last month for the gas bill to try and even out the winter months' payments. I know it is irresponsible of me to hope for more global warming but I'm hoping that the worst of the winter cold is over now and we can quit running the furnace so much. I'll have a couple of months of almost no gas use but then in the summer we heat up our swimming pool.

I do budget billing for electric, gas, and water. Unfortunately, my totals are higher than yours Frown. I like the peace of mind of knowing the amount each month, and I settle up in November, usually with a credit on my Dec bill, right in time for the holidays!

I did use budget billing when I was paying utilities. I liked it for the most part, and don't recall any huge surprises.
