$75 ING Bonus

May 2nd, 2012 at 08:05 pm

Way back at the end of December, I opened an ING account with $100 in order to qualify for a $75 bonus. The bonus was applied to my account on January 3rd. Per the agreement, the bonus money could not be withdrawn until 120 days after it was credited to my account.

The way I count up the days, I thought I met the 120 days today. It seems not. When I went to withdraw the money, it clearly showed that the $75 was not available for redemption.

I will wait one more day and try again. If I can't do it tomorrow then I will contact customer service to find out how they count the days!

I think some of you did this offer around the same time. Did you remember that you have that bonus money coming to you? Let me know if you are able to withdraw yours!

I wasn't able to withdraw mine and was feeling cranky enough to call and complain. This is what I found out: the 120 days isn't ACTUAL days, it is BUSINESS days - so you're looking at maintaining the balance for 6 months. AND it is 120 days from the date that the bonus posted to your account - for me it was January 3rd. And then the customer service representative launched into a "Why are you closing it and can I help you come up with an investment strategy?" to tat I responded I was going to transfer it to my IRA at INGdirect. So I suppose we wait another month + a few days. Smile

Well, that sure isn't what it says in the disclosure! It says days...not business days. Thanks for the heads up. I already did email them, we'll see what response I get.

It's not too big a deal for me, as it is just savings money, but I'd like to have it and get it consolidated in another account.

I posted the email response I received in another blog post. It looks like I might be able to withdraw tomorrow. I hope you can, too!
