Returned the Wii

November 23rd, 2009 at 08:59 pm

Can you believe it? You better not, because I did return it, but I purchased it again. Why? Target was offering a $20 gift card with a purchase of a Wii. I just couldn't pass that cash up. I then turned around and used the $20 to purchase a nunchuck (basically an extra controller, for you non-wii people) for free!!

I have plans to buy the additional items we need for the Wii on Amazon.com. Right now each item is about $5 less than if I purchased them in the stores. I'm watching to see if the prices drop in the next couple days. The odds are they won't, but it is worth waiting a little bit.

Once we make our initial investment, I expect to rent or buy games used. The total value of the items we are purchasing is around $375. This summer the console was $50 more. I would have spent $425. Once all the items are purchased I will have spent $295! That is nearly a 30% savings from this summer. I will have the console, two remotes, two nunchucks, 3 games and two steering wheels. Not bad!

we just bought ours on Friday... and a surprise, we bought one for our parents too. Both for Christmas!! For many years, my parents were the ones who had the means to purchase iPods, cameras etc for the kids... It's our turn. I am glad we waited a few years, the prices have really come down!!

Try Swaptree for basically free video games. The only cost involved is when you ship something to someone else. Just go to google and type swaptree.

Can you go thru ebates or bigcrumbs or bing to get to amazon when you shop, and make additional cash back there? I just saw something on the Paypal-shopping website that said "Get $10 cash back on purchases from over a thousand stores with Bing cashback. And, get $10 in your PayPal account, to boot!" I guess you go thru Paypal or link your paypal account to bing, and then go thru bing to shop and get cash back credited to your bing account, plus $10 credited to your paypal acount. I just don't know if amazon is one of the retailers.
