Air Conditioning & Tire Leak

September 9th, 2016 at 01:15 am

First of all, I paid tuition in full today! No loans. So happy with that. I honestly wasn't sure I could make it happen this year, but without trying it seemed to work out just fine.

The air conditioning on the upper level of our home has stopped working today. It's 83 degrees up there tonight. I wish we would have noticed earlier in the day. Now we have to wait until tomorrow to even get anything scheduled, and I fear that it won't be tomorrow that they come out. We sleep upstairs so it's not going to be pleasant. We do have a guest room on the lower level, so we (my husband and I or our daughter) could sleep downstairs. The only good news is the repair won't cost us anything since we are the renters!

Last Friday our Honda Odyssey notified us with a little light on the dashboard that the air pressure on one of the tires was low. We stopped by and filled it with more air for $1. (I remember when air was provided free!) Tonight I thought the light came on again. My husband was going to take it to get filled and the light wasn't on again...so maybe it's not a problem. I'm really not sure what light I actually saw then?! But for now, no repair needed.

I'm sleeping without AC tonight, too, but I'm hoping for a cool-down. They keep promising one!

Nice work on tuition! It's overwhelming to think of the grand total, but you're right that semester-by-semester things can work out by strategically combining funding sources.

Hopefully you get A/C before the weekend, or have a cool snap.

A friend kept having the tire pressure light come on and it turned out to be the spare! never would have thought to check that.

Great work with the tuition. Your daughter not having student loans to pay will be a blessing to her later.

During the winter my low air pressure light goes on all the time. It's a real pain. A few days ago, i got it again and it's still warm. Luckily a local station here will fill the air for me, no charge. He said the indicators are more trouble than they're worth, but of course you don't want to ignore them in case you actually do have a nail in the tire or something.

I bought a cheap $25 AARP air compressor a year ago and i think i actually damaged the valve stem when after using it to fill the tire with air, i couldn't get it off. i will probably try again and buy a different brand that just screws on and off, with no latch.

Kudos for managing DD#! tuition so well. Huge blessing to get them through post secondary with no student loans hanging like an albatross. Makes future choices much easier.

I hope you get the tire/air pressure thing figured out soon.

That is great about your paying the tuition! Yahoo!

    Hope the tire settles down.

Hope the a/c was fixed too!
