Moving Changes

June 3rd, 2015 at 05:17 am

I have cancelled our first service bill connected with our home. Internet. Once we leave there is no need to keep it going. Unfortunately, they bill one month at a time. No prorating. We pay $55 plus federal fees, amounting to about $71 a month for some very high speed internet. That amount is due now for the entire month of June. I was hoping to cut it in half at least and save a little. Oh well.

Other utilities will be called soon, once we have a more firm date for closing. Those utilities include water, gas, and electric. I can probably call the company we are renting our water softener from since it may need to be picked up (although buyers have requested to continue the lease).

We called USAA to cancel our homeowners insurance, add renters insurance and change where we have auto insurance. Yep in the end more more money going out. Our renters insurance is about $30 a month (which we may adjust down) and auto insurance will go up about $20 a month. Of course, I'm never happy about bills going up, but it's fine for now until I can look into other options.

I did receive my Panera gift card in the mail. It's worth $10. This was earned from MyPoints. I promptly put it in my wallet for use the next time I'm at the restaurant. Wink

Does your auto insurance go down if your driving daughter is residing out of state at college and is an occasional driver? I was wondering about that one!

Once you settled I bet the dust and expenses will go down! Smile

Laura, my daughter doesn't drive, so I can't say how the insurance is affected. I'm sure it's lower because she doesn't drive. Smile

I see! I will have my younger daughter going through driver's ed this summer, but in our state it is 9 months mandatory from permit to being able to get the license. Have a bit of time to figure out how much it will be going up when there are two drivers!

Awesome. Way ahead of me. I am too tentative right now to start letting companies know. I think after we finish construction I'll firm up the heating, electric, cable, cell phone bill.

Your Internet is about the same cost as mine. Hopefully you'll be able to find a less expensive option in the new state. In TX and NM I never paid more than $40/month!
