Made A One Cent Payment

April 24th, 2015 at 07:13 pm

First some home news. Our radon levels on the house came back lower than the amount that would have required us to pay for mitigation. This means we don't have to pay a $600 bill to have that kind of work done. That makes me happy!

We did have to have a roofer out AGAIN to fix a leak (same issue we had in the past). He said he's 99% sure that the problem has been corrected. Gee I hope so. That cost was $85. This was in our original disclosure, and this new issue is being disclosed as well. Buyers inspection is Monday. We may have a possible drywall repair, which I'm fine with...but of course not happy about. It's a pretty new home!

I have a penny in our US Bank Checking account. Since I want to close that account, I made a $0.01 payment from the checking account to the US Bank Visa. This seemed easier than have a check cut for a penny (not sure if they would even do that).

I have confirmed that future deposits of my husband's pay have been cancelled as I requested. Next step is to request cancellation of the actual account. I'm hoping a simple email will do it, but US Bank isn't exactly easy to work with online from a customer service stand point.

Have you ever made such a small payment to a credit card? Do you know about Radon Gas?

Yes, I know about radon gas. WE had to have one of our houses tested. Our inspection department does not require the test. (building inspection)

It isn't required to test, but all buyers and sellers are required to sign that we have read and received the EPA Guide about Radon. In this case the buyer's paid for the test. We agree to mitigate if over 4.0 pCi/L. It wasn't over so we didn't have to pay.

Lots of radon mitigation in N.H., the granite state!

Don't know much about radon gas, just glad your levels were low. As far as CC payments, when I was rounding up my change I would make 19 cent payments, 20 cents etc.

    Good luck

When AMEX ended it's agreement with COSTCO, they sent me a cheque for .06 cents. I figure it cost them at least $ 2. to cut the cheque, postage etc. I threw it in the PAID file, not bothering to cash it, too ridiculous.

A couple of weeks ago I paid $0.75 to my credit card! This was when I wanted it to be $4999 and I bought something over the Internet on the card, promptly put the money for the purchase onto my credit card and then they added $0.75 international transaction charge, which brought the balance to $5000.12. I couldn't look at that so promptly transferred the $0.75!

Glad the radon test went well. They always test us here too.

Can't say I've made a penny payment on a credit card, but I know I've had to make a payment for something that was 30 some cents...I think it was a utility bill that had been "estimated" one month and they overcharged us so we owed cents the next.

Glad the radon test went well.
