Need to Pay Bills

February 14th, 2015 at 04:28 am

Today was payday. I thought all day that I would get them done! There were several other things that just took priority. I hope I get a chance to get it in tomorrow. I will also need to update some recent snowflakes!

I'd like to say it will be a low spend weekend, but we have plans to see a movie ($32!), visit the art museum ($10) and buy girl scout cookies ($24). I would also like to update our bath towels. Most of them are easily 10 years old. Several have bleach marks of some kind and at least one is beginning to fray on the sides. It's time for towels. Hope to keep to just four bath towels, 2-3 hand towels. The girls also need a new bath mat (again fraying!). Our future home sell has me motivated to get this task taken care of.

My husband bought me flowers ($15), we bought candy for the girls and will use two cards from a package we purchased to write some nice words to our girls. We will eat dinner at home and avoid any chaos happening at the restaurants this weekend.

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope your weekend will be more frugal than mine.

I think your being hard on yourself, that's still a pretty low spend weekend.
You have to live a little. Money in the bank is worth nothing if you miss ut on life along the way.
Sometimes if my wife leaves me alone too long I end up in a cold room of the house counting stacks of coins yelling bahumbug out the window at neighbourhood children.

It seems like several household needs come up at once, don't they? Or possibly I put it off until it can no longer be ignored! Just this week, I purchased a new queen sheet set, two toilet brushes, hangers, and a few drawer organizers. I used coupons, of course, but wow that was a hefty sum. Your weekend sounds lovely and I'm sure your family will enjoy it...priceless! Happy Valentine's Day!

@DP, yes it is relatively low spend. We are just coming off a lot of spending, easily $1500 or more with some car repairs and home repairs. We are definitely taking advantage of spending time together since my husband will be moving ahead of us by a few months.

@Bluebird, I have definitely put off the towels and rugs! And just a few items do add up.

What movie are you seeing? I'm thinking about seeing Old Fashioned either Sunday or Monday (matinee), but haven't made up my mind yet for sure.

We are planning to go to The Imitation Game. I think Old Fashioned seems like a good one to see! If I were there, I'd go see it with you. Smile
