Tidbits: Includes State Fair and Wedding Dress

August 7th, 2014 at 04:44 pm

I have some money tidbits today. I earned another $3 from Pinecone.

On eBay, I have a bid one one item and now someone watching another item.

I sent my $5 Starbucks egift card from Discover to my sister who is prepping her classroom for school. My mom is there helping. I thought they could use a coffee break sometime today. I've had the egift card in my email inbox since May! I think it's time someone used it. Smile

Nothing is decided about college. We really enjoyed our visit to the college north of us. I personally would go there in an instant!

I purchased some items from iHerb today. I had over $9 in rewards, met the minimum spending for free shipping and paid less than $13 out of pocket for about $25 worth of items.

Citi Thank You card was not in the mail again today.

We decided not to go to our state fair, as it is now a two hour drive. We are coming up on the busy marching band season and need some time at home. I expect not going will save us nearly $150! That is a plus.

I'm going to open the box my wedding gown from 18 years ago is preserved in today. I will be trying it on and hoping I still fit in it(just kidding...that will never happen!!). Actually, I will be washing it and preparing to send it to an

Text is organization and Link is http://www.nicuhelpinghands.org/angel-gowns/
organization that turns gowns in to Angel Gowns for babies who have died in the hospital. I have decided this is a better use for it than sitting in my closet. My daughters are not attached to it and don't have any interest in wearing it.

Those are my tidbits. Do you still have your wedding dress? Save any money this week? Will you visit your state fair?

I think that is a wonderful use for your gown. Very nice of you!

I gave my wedding dress to Goodwill years ago. Had no sentimental attachment to it since it heralded a pretty bad marriage! (Though I did like the dress.) I think making angel gowns for babies is great idea.

My DIL had her wedding gown preserved and boxed up -- then she didn't look at it for at least three years. When she opened the box, it wasn't her dress! She called the place who preserved it, and they had been waiting three years to find out who got the wrong dress!

That's awesome that they still had your DIL's dress. I what happened to the dress that was in there?

That's nice that you are donating the gown. I actually wore my mom's gown at our wedding and had it preserved again. It was a really nice gown that I couldn't have found or afforded in this day and age. We'll see if anyone wants to wear it in the future.

Mine was just a casual knit cotton summer dress, the only dress I had at the time. Don't recall what I did with it...Made it into kitchen rags? Ha-ha, really I might have.

In my MIL's attic... If we had space it would be here. No idea what it looks like now almost five years later. I think I need to get it moved soon since she's driving us crazy right now (It's not just my hormones, hubby is more annoyed than I am and he's so laid back)

    Anyway...

Amazon are refunding me 14.03. I've spent £8 of it so technically I saved £6. I'll update about this later.

What a wonderful way for your gown to be used! I sent mine off to my niece to use for dress-up ... It was when we were moving and she had just hit the "princess & bride obsessed" age ... Her little girlfriends were all so jealous.

After my grandmother died I donated a little fur collar she had that no one in the family wanted to an organization that uses furs to make nests for rescued wildlife babies. It's such a good feeling to see things re-purposed for a good cause. Such a nice thing for you to do!

What a lovely idea. You've inspired me so I'm hoping I can find somewhere in Aust to do the same. I think it would be too much to ship to the US.

@bluesfemme, I think the same organization I'm sending mine to has an Austrailia chapter...so do some looking!

@ccf - you are amazing. The state chapter address is 1km from my house. It's happening!

Sorry, PT, just saw this. When my DIL went home to visit her mom, she took the dress with her and made the exchange at the dry cleaner's.
