He's On the List!

My husband is on the list for promotion to Major! The list was released today. There will still need to be an order cut to make it official. That order directs pay changes and the ability to pin on his new rank. Those are all just secondary to being on the list.

So happy and proud for him! Of course, I'm looking forward to saving that extra money that comes with promotion, too. Smile

    Given the drawdown that's in process, this is GREAT news!

    I'm confused about his status, though. He was reserve and now he's active duty? Will he get an active duty retirement?

    Another Reader, you aren't the first to be confused on the status. He was Reserves and went full time for the Reserves in 2006. This type of position is referred to as AGR (Active Guard Reserve). He supports the reserve side of the Army which does need full time staff to support them. He will get active duty retirement after 20 years of active service which should be about 9 years from now. He enlisted as a PVT in 1991, so he already has his reserve retirement guaranteed at age 60.
