Spending Yesterday

January 26th, 2014 at 03:16 pm

We went out yesterday to run some errands. We bought groceries for the week. Picked up a gift. Bought those books of stamps I mentioned yesterday.

My last purchase for the day was buying season five of a television series we are trying to catch up on. We stopped at Walmart and saw it was available for $29.96. I just couldn't spend that much! I ended up bidding on a brand new copy on Ebay. I won. And paid $9.50 which includes free shipping. That is a huge savings for waiting for something we want.

I thought we did some frugal things yesterday, too. I wrote about those on

We hauled our own garbage to the county dumpsters for free instead of paying someone to do it for us, we bought Nature's Own bread at the Dollar Tree and with a coupon paid only 53¢ at the Dollar Tree, I went to Publix and got milk for 5¢, believe it or not, there was a coupon in the Sunday paper recently for a free gallon of milk, up to $4.00, if you bought two boxes of cereal. I bought two boxes of Post Raisin Bran, on sale at 2 for $5.00 and the milk was $4.05, so for $5.05 I bought 2 boxes of cereal and 1 gallon of milk, which I thought was a pretty good deal. Smile

That is a great price on milk! I noticed milk was priced higher than usual at our store yesterday. No Publix where we are and we don't eat cereal, but still a good deal for you!

We had a frugal weekend by making breakfast (pumpkin muffins) and lunch at home, then meeting friends in the park to kick the soccer ball around. Had those friends back over and made cake.

PS - just bookmarked your money blog! Thank you!

@BAWW, you are welcome for the reminder. I knew it was coming up and had seen the reminder elsewhere. Maybe I can make them last through the next increase!

Hmmm. Yesterday I used a $5 coupon at the grocery for $50 worth of groceries. I used my calculator to make sure I stayed close to $50. I hand-washed my bras. I substituted a suitcase for a utility cart (that I still might buy sometime). Can't think of anything else!
