Waiting....Still

October 22nd, 2013 at 02:34 pm

In yesterday's mail we received a statement for my husband's government travel credit card. The balance is over $900, and due November 5. Generally we don't need to make payments to the card because the charges are reimbursed and directly paid by the Army. Of course, there is a process that involves submitting a travel voucher and having it approved before the funds are sent. We are now waiting on funds to be sent. And we have been waiting since several days before the government shutdown.

My husband says there is nothing he can do on his end to speed things up. So we wait and cross our fingers they make the payments by November 5th. I really, really don't want to cover for the government on that card. We will if we have to, but I don't want to!

We saw snow here this morning. It has now turned back to rain, and the snow didn't accumulate. As you can imagine, I have turned on the heat in the house. If it is cold enough to snow. It is cold enough for heat. I will wait to turn the gas on for the fireplace until at least November 1...longer if I can. Smile

Are you waiting for money owed to you? Have you turned your heat on yet?

I live in Texas and just recently turned off the ac. It gets hot at night and we use our ceiling fans. Not waiting on any money owed to me.

We nearly always wait for reimbursement well past CC due dates. I'd check and double check Nov. 1. Our main CC views bank transfer payment on the due date acceptable but some cards demand the payment one full business day in advance to avoid interest which goes back to date of purchase. They've lost flexibility since the 2008 crash and fall-out,.

We are enjoying a beautify fall, extraordinarily daily highs [62F] but we are warned to prepare for a difficult, cold winter.

Yes to first question, No to second!

We are waiting for our escrow refund from Wells Fargo, I guess they are taking their sweet time, as the amount was removed from the escrow account balance on Oct. 1, 2013.

I suspect we will be turning the heat on some time this week, once it reaches high 20's and low 30's for the Low Temp for a couple nights in a row. It was 66 degrees this morning in the house, not really that bad.

Not waiting on any money, but we turned our heat on at the end of Sept...we had a cold and rainy week, with temps in the low 40's at night and mid 50's during the day...NOW....we have had beautiful and sunny Fall weather with highs in the mid 60's during the day and low's in the mid 40's at night for the past 3 weeks, with the forecast calling for this weather for the next 10 days....very typical NW Fall which is one of the reasons I love living here...the prettiest season here for sure.
