I'm Still Working on Goals

May 17th, 2010 at 02:16 pm

I know it may not seem like it from my posts, but I am still working on our emergency fund goal. We are getting our house painted, which wasn't originally a 2010 goal! So, right now, I'm collecting funds for that project before focusing again on the emergency fund.

I would likely have at least $1000 to add, if it were not for the painting. Ah, wouldn't that be nice to add to my sidebar? But, the house painting comes first. If they ever get started! It has been power washed, but it has been raining off and on the last week, so they haven't shown up. Maybe this week!

I think once much of the extra deployment money starts flowing in we will see more progess on our goals!! I'm looking forward to that. Smile

We just got an estimate for our house to be painted. I hadn't planned on having it done until next year, but my biological father is having some work done on his apartment buildings. He's offered to pay for half of it, so I need to come up with $1,500 for the whole thing icluding gutters/facia/soffets done - plus this includes some repairs. I am not thrilled to be having it done now, but I am thrilled that half of it is being taken care of. I need to retrain myself to think in terms of "at least this is off the list" instead of "I wanted to do "x" and "y" first."

Once again we're in synch. LOL. I too am still fixated on my debt-repayment goals, but since we're so far ahead of schedule, I decided to take a break and let my family spend some money on the home and other things. But it doesn't give me much to blog about, because who wants to hear "we bought another bicycle" or "got a night at a luxury hotel for our vacation" on a personal finance site? The only good news is that these things are paid for in cash. But though I'm sticking to my word on how much money we can spend--and enjoying the spending, definitely; it's good stuff we're getting--I'm already antsy to move on and get back to debt repayment!
