Abundance

I'm seeing signs of abundance!! Yipee.

The first sign is in the form of tomatoes. Usually, I just walk to the garden when I need a tomato and pick a few. Last night, I went out for an onion and realized there are lots of tomatoes ready...and some that were ready last week (oops!). I came in with 31 tomatoes. It's been a good year!! I also picked three cups of cherry tomatoes. Now I have to figure out how I want to use them.

The second sign of abundance is our retirement accounts. We have reached a new high of just over $90K! We were close to this a year and half ago, but you know how things went. If the stock market hadn't tanked I'm sure we would be over $100K by now. I think we are doing pretty well considering, we only had $25K in 2003!

    Abundance - I have steak and chicken breasts carefully frozen (and purchased on sale!). I have a stack of books that I have to go through that a neighbor gave me for free (whoopeee), I organized my cupboards so I can see what I have on hand (and inventory it), and found out I have a ton of canned foods and possibly a life-time supply of baking soda and herbs.

    So I have good food to eat, three dogs that wiggle and bark when I come home, friends, a wonderful church, and 6 months of world of warcraft paid in advance (and carefully saved for and budgeted). I have next month's mortgage payment ready to pay at the end of the month already. I have plans to start gardening (I'm in the desert, so I'll be doing some planting at the end of this month for my winter crop).

    Life is good.

    I have a tasty recipe that you roast the tomatoes in the oven drizzled with olive oil and garlic cloves, then blend in the blender and freeze for future pasta dishes or whatever. Delicioius. I suggested last year to my MIL (who is 77) that she do that instead of canning and she loved it and is doing it again this year.

    I was talking to my dad today, and he told me that he and his mom are eating fresh tomatoes out of the garden every night for supper. And that more than likely, the tomatoes will keep coming for several more months. Smile

    Congratulations! That is terrific. Before the stock market was insurance that you'd get some upward mobility on your investment but it's been rough these past couple of years. I hope it leads to more abundance!
