I'm the wife of a full time Army Reserve Captain and SAHM to daughters ages 12 and 9. I'm 37 and DH is 40.

We started our marriage 13 years ago with over $10K in credit card debt from a failed business venture. We paid it off as quick as we could with the goal of purchasing our first home. We did this within 15 months of getting married. Now it is time to watch us pay off our home equity loan!!

I Clean Up Before I Leave....

I'm sure this is the quickest way to insanity. I have this habit of cleaning my house before I leave on vacation. I guess there just isn't enough to do! Did you read my sarcasm there?

I think I inherited this from my mom. Thanks Mom!

Today I need to do the following:

Clean bathrooms
Vacuum
Dust
Take out trash out to curb
Sweep kitchen floor
Do several loads of laundry
Bake banana bread

Okay, I don't need to bake banana bread, but the bananas are ready. I will make two loaves, one to leave for the neighbors watching our pets and the other for us to eat before our very early plane trip. Easy.

I also need to sew the waistband to my daughter's shorts, since they are a little too big.

Wish me luck!

Yesterday, I was able to finish birthday shopping for my daughter. I have all the gifts wrapped, too. We just need to sign the card!

I do the same thing! My family thinks I am insane...sure I like to come home to a clean house, but I always have this fear that something will happen and someone will have to come into my house. I don't want them to think we are slobs!!!

I do this too, and make sure to cook and stash something in the freezer so we don't have to go out for dinner when we get back. Makes the trip that much more pleasant.

I always clean the house before we leave, even for a weekend. My mother never did, but it just took a few times coming home to chaos for me to learn that one on my own. It makes the vacation just that much sweeter!

You are not an unusual person. It is such a great feeling to come home to a house that is clean. Like MILE HIGH GAL, I like to have items frozen that can be thawed out. I like to have a loaf of bread frozen and I have even frozen lucheon meats if it has been bagged properly.

Thanks everyone, now I know I'm not too strange for doing this! I have the big stuff clean. I have to vacuum one more room and then its just hand washing dishes and taking out the trash the day we leave.
