My Dough Is Increasing!!

February 26th, 2009 at 05:22 pm

Yep, there is dough sitting on my counter. I'm baking bread today!! This is the first time I have ever baked bread with yeast. The recipe seems simple enough, so I'm giving it a go.

I'm attempting bread making for several reasons. The main one is to get away from bread that comes in plastic bags. Along with reducing our plastic consumption, I'm looking to find healthier alternatives. Bread without preservatives is healthier, right? I haven't calculated the cost yet, but it may be slightly less expensive. I'm okay if it is not.

This particular recipe will make three loaves of bread!! I will update you all later with the results and the recipe if it turns out okay.

Wish me luck!!

Hope it turns out well-post the recipe if it does! I have a $3 breadmachine that I got at a yardsale, and I use it all the time. I just made pizza dough last night with it. At least this way, you know what's in your food.

I love homemade bread but have never made any. I had a bread machine too, but did not like the bread it made.

Good luck! When I've gone through and done the calculations my homemade bread always comes out to be less than what I buy at the store. (What I buy at the store is usually whole wheat, no preservatives etc so it tends to be on the more expensive end of store bread.)

I've only made yeast bread once - at my grandma's when I was 11. Big Grin
My dad though is the king of the bread machine, and makes really really good, healthy bread.

Hope your bread turned out well!
