Both of my daughters are girl scouts. Do you know what that means at this time of year? Cookies. Sales begin tomorrow in our area. Now the problem: I didn't budget for these. Did you? Do you even buy them?
They EACH have a goal of 100 boxes. Each box is $3.50. Of course, I won't be buying all 200 boxes. We have neighbors, co-workers, family and friends we will be hitting up. I'm sure they all want a little more sugar in their diet, right?
So, I'm curious what is your favorite girl scout cookie? I am partial to the Thin Mints, with Shortbread a close second.
It's bound to come up. There are different names for the same cookie in different parts of the country. Check it out here.
What is your favorite Girl Scout Cookie?

My oldest daughter is a GS, and in our area boxes are selling for $4.00 with the profit to the Troop of being $.60. Sad! Anyhow, I like all of them, BUT my favorite ice cream flavor is Edy's with Thin Mints. YUM! To die for. In the effort of better food choices, this is a treat rather than a staple.

I don't budget for these, but at $3.50-$4/box, I should! (and I like them a lot more than the popcorn tins that the boy scouts sell!)

Our booth sales in front of groceries last year were enough to make at least half our goal of 100/box per girl. Insane! I calculated on my shift a box sold every minute (over a 2 hour period).
I go for the box with the MOST in it, nevermind the flavor (shortbread, although they are divine with coffee).
The formula changed the past couple years to REMOVE transfats.

and yes I do budget for them. I also learned long ago to only buy one or two from the first girl, cause then I need to buy from the next and the next....

Looks like I would only need to buy about 4 kinds to please this crowd!

A few years ago they had an animal cracker cookie with chocolate on the bottom. I really liked those also but they no longer sell them.
My mom was "Cookie Mother" for YEARS when I was a Girl Scout. Ah, those were the days. There was an un-ending supply of GS cookies in our house since we stored them for the entire troupe! *hehehe*

Thin Mints, hands down!
But, I do also enjoy the Peanut Butter Patties.

So, I won't buy them anymore. I think it's crummy that they won't REALLY get rid of the trans fats. There is nothing in my house right now that has any trans fat, and there hasn't been for at least 5 years. I'm not going to make an exception for GS Cookies.
BTW, I used to be a leader, and I contacted GS about the trans fat. They were not interested in my opinion.
If they completely replaced the TF with a healthier fat, I'd buy a box of mints in a heartbeat.
